Although there are few markings on this musket it appears to be a French M1822 civil war import musket approximately 70 caliber. The full length 3 band hardwood stock is in very good condition with a cartouche on the left flat. The 42" barrel is in very good condition with a smooth brown patina. The lock functions well and the only markings are a crown over M. The but plate is marked 1838 D with unit markings. All metal parts have a smooth brown patina. Both sling swivels and ramrod are present. A very nice antique civil war era import musket. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
