This would have been very handy to carry for the forester or hunter while hunting in the 1750s is mainland Europe. This would have been the epitome of a practical American shotgun that would have been used to put food on the table or protect the homestead from unwanted intruders. With its large bore, this piece was built primarily for fowling, upland and waterfowl. These types of rifles were the order of the day and were essential tools for providing meat for the table, pest control for the crops and livestock, and protection against beast and man for the homestead. Rifles in this caliber were used for taking medium to large-sized game on the frontier to include elk and even buffalo. Frontiersmen, homesteaders, pioneers, trappers and traders would have used a rifle like this for all of the above. The overall condition is good. Dark, even brown patina. The bore is smooth and remains good for its age. The number “76” is hand carved on the right buttstock. The wood is in very good shape with a few stable cracks on the left flat. The tip of the right forend is repaired. Lightly engraved lock and legible markings. Front of the trigger guard has slight separation from the stock. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 44 inches. Caliber: Approximately 12 Gauge Flintlock Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE.
