Description:
NATIVE AMERICAN Antique Half-Stock Perc. Conversion Musket TACK DECORATED

BIRMINGHAM PROOFED & Period Converted from FLINT

Here we present an antique British Proofed Native American Tack Decorated Percussion Conversion Musket, made in England. This example would have started out life as a flintlock and then converted when the more reliable percussion firing system was introduced. The British military musket was the gun that fought Napoleon Bonaparte in numerous iconic battles, as well as the United States and their American Indian Allies during the War of 1812.

This style of musket, back when it was in its original format, is typical of thousands produced in Birmingham during the 18th and 19th centuries for export throughout the British Empire. The Royal African Company, established in the late 17th century, supplied muskets in payment for slaves. A gold coin was brought to London by this company and was referred to as a “Guinea”, which in turn became the name for English currency.

The overall condition is good. Dark patinaed original finish. Solid stock with a few grain splits in the rear buttstock. The animal rawhides are in good condition. The action is not functional. Dark bore.

Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.

Barrel is 39-1/2 inches.
