Auguste Francotte is world famous as a high-quality firearms maker from the gun making center of Liege, Belgium dating back as far as 1805 and doing business into the early 21rst century making fine shotguns with price tags starting at $18,000.  Francotte is a brand recognized and used by heads of state, business tycoons, and in some cases, the fortunate “Average Joe”.  They are nicely built side by sides with a solid reputation for graceful looks and handling characteristics as well as rock solid dependability.  This gun is a simple boxlock ejector gun with lightly hand engraved action and trigger guard that was built for the European market in 1943.  The gun remains in superb condition and is the perfect upland gun having the preferred Prince of Wales grip, splinter forend, 27 ½” barrels with factory 2 ¾” chambers, crisp double triggers, auto safety, weighing just 5lbs. 15oz. and balanced dead on the hinge pin.  The mechanics are excellent with barrels tight on the hinge pin and breech face, well timed ejectors, ribs tight…ready for a century of use.  This is a VFI CERTIFIED GUN, OUR GUNSMITHS HAVING STRIPPED THE ACTION AND FOREND IRON TO THE SMALLEST PARTS, ULTRASONIC CLEANED ALL, SCRUBBED PARTS TO BARE METAL, INSPECTED ALL FOR FUNCTION AND INTEGRITY, LUBRICATED AND REASSEMBLED, NOW WITH A 90-DAY MECHANICAL WARRANTY (a $450 service in our shop).  This is an attractive gun as well, the barrels carrying 99% deep rust blue, the action retains 50% factory case color, hand cut engraving still clean and sharp, wood and checkering in excellent shape.  Other features sometimes only found on more expensive guns show up on this Francotte, i.e. rebated top of frame to accept the head of the stock to prevent splitting, and a total of 8 locking points that include the traditional double underlug bites, rib extension, Greener crossbolt, hidden third bite, sideclips, and the barrel lug fitting through the bottom of the frame all combine to make for a super tight, super safe shotgun.  Our 5 full-time gunsmiths can alter chokes, stock dimensions, or anything you like within a few days of purchase with no waiting in line for a year on a qualified gunsmith.  Just in time for summer practice before the fast-approaching upland bird season, this is a very affordable, finely made Belgium shotgun that will please you and your heirs for decades.  Examine the photos closely and you will see a bargain. Vintage Firearms always provides you with the best photography so you can see what you are buying, and full specifications so you know the gun will fit your needs.  WE TAKE THE RISK OUT OF BUYING ONLINE.  Thanks for looking!
