Description: Near Mint Walther WWII Late Production Nazi-Marked .32 Auto Pistol Offered here for sale and just acquired from a very prestigious collection is this excellent classic WWII Nazi-marked Walther German auto pistol This NEAR MINT late production Nazi-Marked Walther PP .32 auto pistolis in a condition collectors love to see. This Walther PP (.32 ACP / 7.65mm) pistol serial number 360440P places it firmly within the late WWII production period. The "P" suffix was commonly used for police and military contract pistols starting around 1940 and continued until war's end. Based on available Walther production records, serial numbers in the 360,000P range were manufactured in 1944–early 1945, placing this pistol very late in the war, likely mid to late 1944. The specimen has what appears is a milled, smooth satin finish rather than a high-polish blue. This corresponds perfectly to the late-war finish. As the war progressed, Walther switched from high-polish commercial blue to a more matte military-grade finish to save time and materials. The late-war finish is often referred to as a "war finish" and is correct for a 1944–45 model. In addition the model has MINTY beechwood grips, marked with the Walther banner, and is a scarce feature. By 1944, plastic/phenolic resin grips (black checkered) were the norm. However, wooden grips, especially beechwood with the Walther banner, were occasionally used when plastic was in short supply late in the war. The pistol has waffenamt markings – WaA359- which was assigned to Walther (Zella-Mehlis factory) and is correct for late WWII military production. These pistols were primarily issued to the German Wehrmacht and Luftwaffe. The only sign of wear is on the edges of the Walther banner marked magazine and although retaining all finish this may indicate it was stored apart from pistol and picked up some abrasion. Certainly does not detract from overall appearance. A wonderful wartime WWII German pistol. L351 Thanks for your bid.
