Museum Quality Webley & Scott Model 1910 High Velocity .38 Automatic Pistol
Offered here for sale and just acquired from a very prestigious collection is this superb and near mint British Webley & Scott Model 1910 High Velocity Model .38ACP(.38 Automatic) pistol. This specimen is in NEAR MINT condition with early walnut grips and unpolished steel magazine. MINT BORE. Just the slightest of thinning of blue on left side of barrel (only when showing under harsh photo lamps) and top of slide and some thinning left side near muzzle. The Model 1910 High Velocity pistols were produced in a serial range from 40,000 to 66,664, with fewer than 1,000 examples manufactured between 1909 and 1911 .
This pistol’s serial number, 62,753, places it toward the end of that production run, indicating it was made in late 1910 or early 1911. These were Webley & Scott’s “High Velocity” variant of the 1910, chambered in .38?ACP—distinct from the more common .380 version. The specimen is in near-mint condition with original walnut grips and unpolished steel magazine. The bore is about MINT with and only very minor thinning of blue finish under harsh lighting—on the left barrel side and slide top and almost negligible in normal lighting. Also a small thinning spot extreme muzzle end.
Given all these factors, with limited production and high condition this is certainly a "museum quality" pistol from a very limited production late in the run—likely one of the final handful made.
