James Purdey & Son - Bar In Wood Top Lever Hammer Gun, SxS, 12ga. 30 inch barrels.
According the makers archive the gun was completed 28th April 1881 and is No. 2 of a pair of game guns made for the Duke of Devonshire and in 1911 sold to Captain Greaton of the Royal British Navy.
The gun has recently been serviced in the United Kingdom and the gunsmith marks are still proud and checkering sharp.
Minimum wall thickness 17 thou in each barrel. Damascus barrels 002 (Right) and 018 (Left).
A line on the underside is visible in pictures.
