Description:
"NSN, circa mid-18th century, .65 caliber, 37 ¾" octagonal-to-round barrel. Barrel has a smooth brown/grey patina with engraved flats at the breech reading: “ES QUI bel / Ano de 1742 / En Madrid." Forward of the tang are Diego Esquibel’s proof marks, identifying this as a Spanish-made barrel. The lock plate is marked “SCHURIR / SAARBRUCKEN" and features finely engraved hunting scenes—on the front, a hunter with dogs pursuing a rabbit, and on the rear, a hunter with a bow. Stock exhibits raised carved accents with light handling wear. Side plates are delicately engraved scrolls terminating in dog-head motifs. The action is smooth and holds securely at both half and full cock. Ramrod has a slight bend near the front. A finely crafted and visually striking European hunting fowler combining German and Spanish elements.
