Description:
A classic Webley & Scott Model 700, the company’s most successful post-war side-by-side, introduced in 1947 and accounting for roughly one-third of Webley & Scott’s double gun production. While the quality of Model 700s can vary, the examples produced during the 1950s and 1960s—like this one built in 1958—are widely regarded as representing the best of the series. Production of the 700 ceased in 1980.
This example features 28" barrels, chambered for 2 ¾" shells, and carrying a robust 3 ¼ Ton nitro proof. It is adorned with crisp border and acanthus scroll engraving, and retains most of its original case colors.
The barrels are on face and tight to the action, with bright bores that ring clear. Mechanically, the action is precise and locks up like a bank vault, operating exactly as it should. The stock offers a nice long length of pull, making it especially suitable for taller shooters.
A solid example of a 1950s Webley & Scott Model 700, combining the hallmark durability of the model with particularly clean mechanics and sharp aesthetics—an ideal choice for both the field and the collection.
