Marlin made less than 5,000 model 1888 rifles. This is a scarce gun with a special order 28 inch barrel. 38-40 was a less common caliber in these rifles and adds to the rarity of this gun. It is in good original condition with lots of blueing still evident on the barrel and receiver, turning brown with age. This gun functions correctly and shoots great with cast bullets. The bore is dark, but rifling is very prominent, contributing to it's good accuracy.. Very rare like this. It is antique and can be shipped direct without an FFL...$3999.00
