Description: General Specs: AyA, 2008, .410 Bore, 5lbs., Chokes SK/LM, LOP 15", DAH 2 3/8", DAC 1 7/16" Serial Number: 16-03-335-08 The AYA Nº 2 HAND DETACHABLE SIDELOCK is the pre-eminent “affordable” sidelock double gun, and the most famous model in the AYA line. Since its introduction in the late 1950s, tens of thousands of No.2’s have been sold in the United Kingdom, the United States, and everywhere that shooters value the superb balance and handling characteristics of a fine double gun. Over the last decade or so, other well-respected Spanish gunmakers have had to shut their doors, the main cause being the high cost of the hand fitting, hand engraving, and hand checkering of these fine guns. AyA has survived and flourished, building upon a long-standing reputation for making fine sidelock guns copied from the British greats at affordable prices. Mechanically, the No.2 is identical to the No.1, AyA’s flagship ‘Best’ model. Like the No.1, it was originally modeled on the time-tested Holland & Holland system. The AyA No.2 has all the features you would expect on a true BEST GUN, including an action with a sculpted frame, sculpted fences, cocking indicators, gas vents, hand detachable sidelocks, removable firing pin bushings, intercepting sears, auto safety, articulated front trigger, and a trigger guard with a rolled edge on the right side. The gun weighs just 5lbs even and balances just perfectly 1/8” ahead of the hinge pin so the gun is not “whippy” but points instinctively and moves well, a truly dynamic handling gun. The AyA No.2 has hand-checkered stocks with a long-tang trigger guard, the high contrast straight grained European walnut is stocked to the fences and features drop-points with hand applied oil finish combine to present an elegantly profiled gun with the English stock terminating in a checkered butt. This gun was built in 2008 and remains in 99% factory original condition, with 99% deep rust blue on the barrels, 99% blue on trigger guard, 99% vivid bone and charcoal on the action, and 99% of the finish on the wood with very light marks from being handled and admired! The gun is mechanically perfect with 27” chopper lump barrels choked SK/LM with a lever Way Right of Center, tight on the hinge pin and breech face, the gun locks up like new. The ejectors are strong and well timed, trigger pulls crisp…all in superb condition. Perfect screws, superb checkering and perfect wood to metal fit, what a stunning example of a AyA No.2. The .410 bore is a true scaled action and is not built off a larger frame, it’s just the sweetest diminutive side by side you’ll see. You could order from AyA and endure the long wait for your gun, or you can buy this ‘ready to go’ example and have it in your hands and at the sporting stands within a week! The AyA No.2 is complete with its original shipping box. Examine the photos closely and you will see we provide all the views of this gun you need to see to understand the quality of this firearm.
