Description:
On consignment we have a Remington Model 1867 Cadet Rifle in .50-45 caliber. This is a rare rolling block rifle, one of 498 manufactured on order for the US Navy and delivered in 1868. It features a straight grip walnut stock with steel carbine buttplate, a rolling block action, and 32-1/2" with two position carbine rear sight. The tang is marked "Remington's Ilion, NY U.S.A, Pat May 30 Nov, 15th 1864, April 17th 1866". Left side of receiver has naval anchor mark, and right side has P over FCW, inspectors mark of Frank C. Warner. Buttplate is marked U.S. and then C over 402. The metal condition is mostly patinaed with no original finish. There is a repair at the wrist of the stock on both sides. Bore is very good for the vintage with strong rifling and light frosting. Action and lockup are very good. Antique, no FFL required.
