Description:
Engraving is period, worn and may be factory, as are the gold and nickel finishes which are mostly there. Unusual rosewood grips have 6 light notch marks and an area of abrasion but are otherwise sound. Bore is good and mechanism works correctly and is snug. Screws have strong Colt fire blue indicating recent work. Address markings are strong, matching sn's, but caliber marking on barrel is worn away. It is present on the frame. A piece of history here. Last photos shows an identically engraved 1877 attributed to Helfricht. So I am pretty sure this is an factory engraved gun.
