Detonics Manufacturing Corporation was an innovative American firearms company known for pioneering compact 1911-style pistols, especially for concealed carry. Founded in the mid-1970s in Seattle, Washington, Detonics quickly earned a reputation in the 1980s as a small but cutting-edge manufacturer. The Detonics Combat Master series was one of the first small 1911 style ‘pocket pistols’.
At a time when most major gun makers only offered full-size or Commander-length 1911s, Detonics designed purpose-built carry pistols—not just cut-down versions of larger guns.
The MK VII is a rare model with the reputation of having been designed for the CIA. Definitely a close combat weapon, the MK VII has no sights, ensuring it can be produced from a pocket without snagging. This MK VII is in Excellent condition, the mechanics are tight and it retains about 99% of its original stainless steel finish. It is chambered in .45ACP, giving it plenty of stopping power in a small package. These little pistols don’t come up for sale very often, so this is an unusual chance to acquire a rare pistol with a cool history. Original Detonics Gun Rug included.
