Description:
Antique AMERICAN Full-Stock KENTUCKY Style Percussion Pistol OCTAGON BARREL

With Maple Stripe Stock Made Circa 1830-50s

Here we present an antique American Percussion Pistol in .45, made circa the 1830s through the 1850s. This design was very popular throughout the United States Frontier during the 1830s and 1840s and was based on the "Kentucky" or "Pennsylvania" style rifles of the time. Most of these, as is this example, have an octagonal barrel with a cylindrical cap bolster, and the lock is unmarked and not engraved. This, like most, is fitted with simple brass furniture.

A classic American pistol, the “Kentucky” was a must have for American Pioneers and early 19th Century Explorers. Some researchers state that the “Kentucky” was made famous by the battle of New Orleans and favored by Davey Crockett throughout his pioneer days. It was a favorite because of its one piece stock with superb balance and features like a birds head grip, fixed sight, case colored sidelock, and brass ramrod thimbles.

The overall condition is good. Strong action. No half cock is present. The bore is in good shape for its age. Wonderful maple stripe stock. The wood contains only average handling wear. Mix of original dark patinas. This a great solid example piece for any new antique collection.

Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.

Barrel is 6-1/8 inches.

Caliber: .45 Percussion

Overall condition as seen in photos.
