Description:
Antique 3rd Model Brown Bess. Selling another flintlock for a friend of mine.. I am not sure exactly what these are but will do my best with the information given to me.. If anyone knows more about this please let me know. Tag reads India Pattern.. The lock is dated 1815 and has the rampant lion. The barrel is 39” long without the tang. With the tang it measures 41 1/4”. The over all length is a little over 54” and almost 55” depending on where you measure at the butt plate. It has proof markings on the barrel.. The barrel is a smooth deep brown patina with no pitting anywhere but just a little minor pitting around the flash pan as you would expect. Does not look like it has ever been cleaned on or messed with. The lock works perfectly. The stock is real nice with no cracks or splits but the left side of the comb has been shaved as you can see in the photo. I guess the original owner had fat cheeks ??? Or it was made this way?? I have no idea... Work sheet I have says 75 caliber. Includes the bayonet.
