Description: Cased William Evans 12 bore ejector gun pair with 30” barrels. The guns are choked modified and modified. Length of pull of 15 5/8” to a checkered butt. Straight English grip, double triggers on a boxlock action, auto-safety, doll’s head third bite, Southgate ejectors, smooth concave game rib with a brass front bead, deeply chiseled fences, Anson push button forend release, vacant silver oval, drop points, checkered wrist and forend with mullered borders, and gold inlaid “SAFE” ahead of the safety catch. Gold inlaid “1” and “2” on the barrels and top lever while the forend iron has “1” and “2” engraved without gold inlay to correctly match up the guns. The guns are housed in a maker’s brass cornered oak and leather case with a set of spare strikers for both guns in their numbered striker pots, a pull through and a jag. Circa 1898 guns with London nitro proofs for 1 1/8 oz loads and chambers that measure 2 5/8”. Engraved with small scroll and floral bouquets. Case color hardened action and blued furniture. Some case colors remain. Well figured replacement walnut stocks. Very good overall condition. The forends appear original with worn checkering. Scratches and compression marks on the stock. Excellent bores other than on small dent close to the muzzle on the bottom of right barrel of gun 1. Bluing on the barrels rates very good with minor scratches and minor bluing loss. Engraving on the bottom straps has softened. Top levers are left of center and both guns are slightly off face. Ejectors on gun 2 are in time while they are out of time on gun 1. A solid pair of 12 bore guns with good dimensions and a longer length of pull.
