- This model played a significant role in the westward expansion of the United States
- This rifle was know for it's quick loading and easy shooting for its time
- Production ran from 1866-1898
- It was a popular firearm choice for cowboys, lawmen, outlaws, and settlers
- Its design served as the foundation for the later even more popular model 1873
- This particular model sports a nice mustard color patina on its receiver, action, and tang
- The action is very nice and smooth
- It has a 20" barrel that has good lands and grooves remaining with a shiny bore

- Butt stock has a loading door for a cleaning rod
- Barrel, magazine tube, lever, and hammer all exhibit a plum brown finish
