Charles Fox 20ga Boxlock Ejector – Cyril Adams Collection – Reproofed in London – Gorgeous Trunk Case
A rare and elegant English boxlock ejector from Charles Fox, this 20 gauge side-by-side shotgun hails from the esteemed collection of Cyril Adams, one of the most revered names in fine gunmaking and gun fitting. This particular gun is serial number 78656, which places its original manufacture likely in the early 1920s, during the height of the Birmingham trade’s output.
It features 28” barrels, chambered for 2 3/4” modern loads, and has been reproofed by the London Proof House for 7/8 oz. loads—a strong endorsement of its integrity and usability. The gun retains double triggers, an articulated front trigger, and automatic ejectors, all in excellent mechanical condition.
The English straight grip stock is fitted with a leather-covered recoil pad, maintaining the classic lines and handling expected of a fine upland gun. The gun weighs 6 lbs. 4 ozs, making it exceptionally well-balanced for long days in the field.
Cosmetically, the gun remains in beautiful overall condition, with sharp engraving, excellent wood-to-metal fit. It is housed in a deluxe leather trunk case with brass corners and retains the original maker’s label, adding to its charm and collectibility.
This is not only a fine shooting piece but also a meaningful collectible with direct lineage to Cyril Adams’ personal gunroom.
