Serial No. 146, circa 1830, .57 caliber with a 40\" round barrel. Only 153 ever made with 40\" barrels and a total quantity of 307 ever being manufactured for West Point and other various Military Academies of that time. Musket has been converted to percussion Philo S. Newton out of Hartford, Ct using the drum and nipple method. Barrel and bands are in the bright with slight surface oxidation noted. Lock plate is case colored and dated 1830 as is barrel tang, wood is very good with an added light coat of varnish added some time ago. Barrel is marked P.S. Newton. Great opportunity to own a rare cadet musket. (AL7520)
