Tom Burgess & Monty Kennedy custom Mauser 98 .308 Norma Magnum. Acquired from the original bespoke owner, serial 30746 (marked 130746 on the tang) has a 26-inch barrel (.615 muzzle diameter). Features include a custom bolt handle (straight, two-panel checkered knob), custom bolt shroud with two-position safety, custom bottom metal (inside-the-bow release button, integral magazine box) and a Canjar trigger. Fluted steel bases are attached. The metal is unsigned. WOOD: Monty Kennedy (signed 8/77 in the barrel channel) shaped the stock from a claro blank with stout directional figure. Formalities include an ebony forend tip, flawless panel checkering on the forearm and wrapped over the wrist, scalloped cheek rest with tapering shadow line, checkered steel grip cap, checkered ebony butt plate, timed screws and sling swivel studs. DIMENSIONS: Weight is 9.0 and the length-of-pull is 13.75 inches. CONDITION: The bore is strong and bright. Metal finish is approximately 95 percent and wood is at least 97 percent.
