Description:
Unserialized, .69 caliber, 32-inch barrel with fixed front bead sight. Blued finish. Lock marked: HARPERS / FERRY / 1849 and (eagle) / U.S. Smooth hardwood stock with ramrod. U.S. marked metal butt.

Condition: Good. Finish primarily a smooth grey patina with Noticeable signs of age, handling wear and pitting. Scattered scuffs and dings present to wood. Action good. Good bore.Very few of these remain, making them extremely difficult to find for collectors. The barrel measures 41 inches and features a smooth bore. The bore is in good condition and shows an expected amount of wear for a nearly 200 year-old artifact. The Armory at Harpers Ferry and the rifles it produced played a significant role in the American Civil War, ultimately leading up to a raid on the facility by abolitionist John Brown in 1859.  Externally, this musket is in good shape, considering its age. Length of pull measures just over 13 inches. The wood around the tang has s small non sttuctural crack. The sideplate shows U.S. military markings, as well as a stamp reading “Harpers Ferry 1849”.  Initials WRQ in both left and right sides of stock. D on Stock left of reciever.

Overall, this musket is a great piece for any collector of early American small arms, especially those with such historical relevance.
