CCA member since 2019, current Board member. Description: VERY Clean Army Model 1903 revolver According to R.L. Wilson's book The Book of Colt Firearms, the lanyard swivel was added in the 1901 Models onward to the 1903 model. Also, the diameter of the bore of the 1903 Model was reduced for accuracy, with an improved design and thinner grips. About 291,000 (1892, 94, 95, 96, 01, 03) were made between 1892 through 1907. This is a very fine example in the last of the Colt 1894, 95, '01, '03 revolvers. Made in late 1903, with a 1904 stamping on the left side plate. Standard two line address on top of barrel with a last patent date of March 1895. Numerous inspector's marks: RAC on left side plate, rear cylinder, and bottom of wooden grips, JFH just above flat cylinder latch release, P and K on underside of barrel. Bottom of frame labeled "US ARMY MODEL 1903 No 207204". Bright blue finish, starting to turn to a darker patina, rates about 90% with minor loss on cylinder and backstrap. Small spots of corrosion on half moon front sight, bottom of trigger guard and inside hammer channel. Fire blue still appears on screws, trigger and hammer. This looks like it likely saw more holster time than firing. The bore is very clean and defined. All matching numbers on crane, frame, flat latch, and penciled inside grips. Trigger pull is still very tight and robust. Left turning cylinder show the tiniest bit of movement on lockup. Own a piece of U.S. military history at a reasonable price. A great starter or addition to your Colt or military firearms collection. Must be shipped 2 Day USPS, Fedex, or UPS to FFL. $55 shipping. C&R OK. USPS Money Order or Major Bank Check.
