Description: The Winchester 1895, originally produced from 1895 to 1940, was the first Winchester rifle using a box magazine that allowed it to be chambered in rimless spitzer cartridges. The enhanced strength of the browning designed action also allowed it to use the then new high pressure smokeless cartridges. This example made in 1897, the third year of production, is in excellent overall condition, with much of its original bluing still remaining and a consistent brown patina in all other places. This rifle is also chambered for the then standard U.S. army service cartridge, the 30-40 Kraig or .3 US, this cartridge is a good pair to the 28" barrel, giving good performance against most north American game.
