Presented here is an exceptional 1983 Cosmi Lusso 12-gauge, an extraordinary break-action semi-automatic shotgun hand-built in Italy and engraved by the legendary master engraver Claudio Tomasoni. Few names in the gunmaking world evoke such reverence—both for Cosmi’s technical ingenuity and for Tomasoni’s artistry.
This Lusso is configured with a 26.75" barrel, choked Improved Modified (.032"), and features the ingenious Cosmi action that loads a tubular magazine housed in the buttstock, as an 8+1 or 2+1 semi-automatic. The ribbed barrel is topped with a silver front bead. Dimensions: DAC 1.375", DAH 2.125", LOP 14.125" to checkered butt, weight 8 lbs. 2.6 oz.
Condition is excellent, with a clear bore, a smooth, tight-locking action, a crisp trigger, and only the faintest signs of careful handling. Mechanically, the gun is flawless.
The bottom receiver is coin finished and adorned with Tomasoni’s unmistakable handwork: fine scroll engraving interspersed with floral bouquets on both sides, a pair of ducks in a marsh scene rendered in delicate bulino on the underside, and scroll-accented bouquets extending onto the top tang and trigger guard. The engraving is signed by Tomasoni beneath the game scene. The blued top receiver and barrel retain 99% of their original finish.
Exhibition-grade walnut, with superb figure, completes the presentation. Sharp, finely cut checkering graces the pistol grip, forend, and butt.
Cosmi is unique among firearms: over 100 parts, machined from solid steel, are meticulously hand-fitted without screws.
