Description: General Specs: Browning, 2001, 20 Gauge, 6lbs. 7oz., Chokes Screw-ins, LOP 14 5/16", DAH 2 3/16", DAC 1 1/2" Serial Number: 324MZ03726 The Browning Superposed (technically the “B25” since its inception but more commonly known as the Superposed) is one of the finest over/under shotguns in history and one of John Browning’s most prolific designs. Produced in plain jane field grades to the most elaborately engraved and finely stocked shotguns ever seen, production of the Browning Superposed was done in Belgium, running strong from 1931 through 1977 when regular production stopped. It was in that year FN of Belgium took ownership of the Browning Arms Corp. and became the sole producer of the famous Superposed Browning. A lot changed as they tried to turn an unprofitable endeavor into a profitable one. This became the era of the Presentation Grade offerings in the Browning Superposed line. Most of these guns no longer had the fine hand engraving that the Superposed was known for, but instead were acid etched engraved with the resulting lack of detail and beauty. Fast forward to the 21rst century and the Superposed is still in production via “The John M. Browning Collection”. This Browning B25 Superposed built in the year 2001is the B2G Sporting Model (still produced in Belgium at FN Herstal) that is fully hand engraved by Gwenda Lieben (signed by her), one of the John M. Browning Collection’s premier engravers. Stocked with nicely figured European walnut with the most desirable round knob, long tang configuration and graceful Schnabel style forend and barreled with long, slender 30” barrels, the gun is a treat to the eye and handles dynamically in the field. These B2G models are highly desirable with the rounded action exactly like the coveted Super Light, all hand-fitted parts by artisan gunmakers, and gorgeous wood with a satin hand-rubbed oil finish. This gun is in superb factory original condition, still retaining 99% of the factory finish on all surfaces, barrels tight on hinge and breech face with the top lever well right of center, mechanics in perfect working order, mirror shiny bores, and only a few light handling marks in the wood. THIS GUN IS FITTED WITH THE FINEST BRITISH MADE TEAGUE SCREW-IN CHOKES THAT ARE NEARLY INVISIBLE IN THEIR APPLICATION, ARE KNOWN TO THROW SUPERB PATTERNS, AND PROVIDE VERSATILITY NOT FOUND IN FIXED CHOKED GUNS. See the specs below. This grade of Browning Superposed is rarely encountered, so don’t miss out on owning one of the few that comes up for sale.
