We started out buying, selling, and trading at the large & frequent gun shows Colorado was known for back then. After relocating to New Hampshire in 1995, we established our online business, specializing in vintage gun parts, militaria, accoutrements, and related ephemera. Our goal is to provide you with quality items at reasonable prices, and moreover, to help you find that elusive part that restores your gun, or that scarce item to enhance your collection. In addition to selling, we are always open to buying & trading, and reasonable offers are always considered! Thanks for looking! Description: If You're a Veteran, Active Duty Military or Service Member's Family - Thank You! Offered for your consideration is a French M1874 bayonet and metal scabbard. These were made for the M1874 Gras infantry rifles. The inscription on the spine indicates that it was manufactured at the St. Etienne arsenal in 1876. The piece measures 25-3/8” overall with a 20-5/8” single edge blade and T-shaped spine. The blade is in exceptional condition - hard to upgrade this one. The wood grips are in good shape with a few lsmall chips around the rivets on one side. The brass pommel has a nice deep olive patina. The metal on the crossguard shows some surface freckles. The scabbard is in VG+ condition with only minor finish wear, some scattered surface freckles and a small area of pitting on one side. Overall, this is an above-average example of these classic French bayonets, which saw use in multiple conflicts, spanning from the Franco-Tonkin War (1883-1885) up to and including WWI.
