12 GA Serial # 5174 W.B. Barratt 12 ga Bar In Wood Powells 1864 Patent Lift up Top Lever circa 1870, 28in. black powder only damascus barrels (pitted), rib engraved 'W.B. BARRATT BURTON ON TRENT.', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. true cyl. in both, action incorporating William Powell patent lift-up toplever, patent no. 1163 of 7th May 1864, use number 1420, carved percussion fences, broad strikers with Powell 1869 patent 'loaded' indicators, bar-in-wood, rebounding sidelocks with flat sided hammers, border engraving, 13 3/4in. figured stock with steel buttplate, weight 6lbs. 9oz.. Condition, Very fine as restored with vivid damascus patterns and finely oil finished stocks. Mechancailly fine with some roughness in bores. Barrel 28 NO4473
