Description: Guns Listing ID: 549678 NSN, circa 1775-1783, .81 caliber, 41.75\" octagonal to round barrel. Barrel is marked \"SE\" with fleur-de-lis, this is a St. Etienne mark. A \"US\" surcharge is located on the top flat near the breech. Lock plate is from a British Sea Service pattern 1756 musket marked \"Broad Arrow, Crown/GR\" forward of hammer, rear of the hammer is marked with \"IORDAN/1760\". The cherry wood stock resembles early Pennsylvania rifles with its squared lower edge butt. What is unique of this fowler is the short butt section that measures 10\" from the butt plate to the rear of the lock. It is more than likely used by a soldier with small arms and small hands as the trigger guard is smaller than normal. A crack is noted on the right side with woodl loss noted along the edge. This Fowler appeared in the November 1996 issue of \"The Gun Report :\"Some thoughts about the Dutch and German Influence on American Colonial Firearms\" Fowler also for some time belong to Bill Ahearn an author on many Rev. War Books and articles.
