We wish to help you improve your collection and make both parties happy. Description: Please note that this post is for the pair of consecutive serial number M28/76s. The numbers are XXX57 and XXX58. Both rifle barrel shanks are dated 1969 and considered "No Makers" as we do not have a manufacturer's insignias on the barrel channel. According to Matt DiRisio, in Finnish Mosin-Nagant, M28/76 production commenced in the mid 1970s to function as sniper trainers, sniper rifles, or marksmanship training for the Finnish Defense Forces and Finnish Border Guard until the late 1990s. Only about 1000 M28/76 rifles were imported into the USA. The M28/76 triggers have a 2 stage M27 target type. Sights are a double-aperture arrangement, with a tiny peep on the rear and an aperture in the front. Both rifles will come with full rear peep standard rear M39 style and forward adjustable globe sights. Import marks found on bottom of barrels in front of forearms of stock. The XX457 has matching numbers on its receiver and barrel. It has a circle style front sight insert. The CMP throat muzzle wear gauge (.308) measures below zero. The XX458 has matching numbers on the receiver, barrel, and bolt. This rifle is an antique, with an 1895 dated receiver. It has a "S" gear wheel proof on barrel at front of front sight which is a post style front sight insert. The CMP throat muzzle wear gauge (.308) measures at zero. The CMP muzzle gauge is designed for a .308 muzzle diameter (typically used on Garands and 1903s). We have chosen to use this tool to give a reference as to muzzle wear and noted that many 28/76s have been found to have .308 bore diameters. A definite advantage for reloader and bullet selection. *We are not making the claim that this rifle is chambered in .308, we're specifically talking about bore diameter. Both rifles are right-handed. Each rifle has a "S" gear wheel located on the rear sight. The rifles also feature a heavy target stock with bottom/side rails for sling and accessory attachments. The stocks feature very full palm swells and an elevated comb. XXX57 has a arsenal stock repair plug on left side of grip and a few on right side tip of fore end. XXX58 has typical has typical arsenal circle repair on cheekrest and right side palm swell. This rifle also maintains a Finn tournament sticker MPKK 0210. Please see pictures for details. Our price of $3999 is for both rifles. We are not interested in splitting up this pair of consecutive serial numbered rifles at this time.
