Description:
AERIAL TRAINING Semi-Auto WORLD WAR II U.S. Remington Model 11 Shotgun C&R

Circa 1943-44 U.S. MILITARY Semi-Automatic SHOTGUN

Here we present a C&R World War II U.S. Remington Model 11 Aerial Training Semi-Automatic Shotgun, manufactured in Ilion, New York circa 1943-44. At its inception, this shotgun became the first auto-loading shotgun to be produced in the United States. In 1911, the shotgun was named the “Remington Model 11” and roughly 850,000 guns went on to be sold all the way through 1947 with about 65,000 being produced during WW II. Initially, it was only available in 12 gauge chambering, though 16 and 20 gauge models came along during the years of 1931-1932. The Model 11 was one of the many shotguns used by American forces during World War II. During the conflict, U.S. war-planners procured all manners of weaponry, and the United States was one of the few nations that went to war with the firepower of the combat shotgun, which included the “Remington Army Model 11” issued to both frontline combat, guardsmen for anti-riot and prisoner & industrial guarding duties, and for aerial gunnery training.

Manufactured by Remington for the U.S. military during World War II, primarily for use by military and industrial guards and for aerial gunnery training, both freehand and in elaborate simulator mounts. Faintly visible crossed cannons cartouche and “FJA” are stamped on the left of the buttstock with “U.S.” and “flaming bomb” marked receiver and barrel. It has the Cutts compensator and an added C.C. Rogers rubber butt pad.

The overall condition is fine. Original finish is preserved. The action is robust. Bright and shiny bore. The stock is solid with a grain split in the bottom of the forend. The stock has been sanded and re-oiled. Clear markings.
