Description:
Remington Arms Co. established the Custom Shop in 1960 to offer Remington firearms in special configurations with enhanced features not available in the standard line. From shotguns decorated for exhibitions to state of the art target rifles, guns and rifles from Remington’s Custom Shop have long been coveted by firearm and hunting enthusiast.
Without doubt, the Remington Custom Shop’s most revered rifle, is the Model 40X. Introduced in 1955 and associated with the world’s most accurate rifles, the 40X was the first “blue printed” action manufactured in the U.S. This means all the critical surfaces of the rifle’s action are machined in such a way that they perfectly align with the center line of the rifle’s bore.
This 21st Century Remington Custom Shop rifle is based on Remington’s famous Model 40X repeater action and machined from a solid block of Titanium. While Titanium is much more costly, it is approximately 45% lighter than steel while still maintaining very high strength making it a premium material for the construction of firearm parts.
The bottom metal is of one-piece construction with a hinged straddle floorplate that has an inside-the-bow release and a 4 round magazine capacity. Remington’s large “R” Custom Shop logo is laser engraved on the floorplate.
The action is equipped with a precision Timney trigger and safety.
To further reduce weight, spiraling “Chain Link” flutes are machined into the bolt body and the stainless steel, Match Grade Remington barrel that is 19” over the factory removable muzzle brake.
The metal is finished in a custom Burnt Bronze Cerakote.
The rifle is stocked in Remington’s Custom Shop composite stock in the “Classic BDL” stock shape with a beaded right hand cheekpiece and a 14 ¼” LOP over a factory rubber recoil pad, with swivels studs finished to match the rest of the metal. The stock features a custom hand-painted 4-color Brown/FDE/Coyote Tan and Burt Orange color scheme.
Chambered for Hornady’s 6.5 Creedmoor which combines unmatched accuracy, precision, terminal performance, and shootability into one high performance cartridge.
Incredibly compact and lightweight, the rifle is just 40” in overall length and weighs only 5 lbs 3 oz, including the Talley Alloy, one-piece construction 1” scope mounts
The rifle is brand new and includes its factory SKB hard case with Remington Custom Shop logo and factory test target.
