This is a very special find, a Philadelphia A Grade 16 gauge with 30” number 4 weight barrels (the lightest) weighing just 6lbs. 2oz. with highly figured factory wood, great stock dimensions, terminating in a factory buttplate. THE PERFECT UPLAND GUN FOR THE FAST-APPROACHING UPLAND SEASONS.  All Fox 16ga. guns were built on a 20ga. frame, one of the reasons these guns are in such demand.  They only made about 2450 Fox A Grade 16 gauge guns and many are no longer functional or retain all factory parts and specifications.  Only a hand full were shipped with 30” barrels, and fewer still that weighed 6lbs. 2oz.  The most desirable guns will have factory original parts, extraordinary features, and sound barrels and mechanics.  Buy the right gun and the value will increase as you enjoy its use, but how do you know “the right gun” when most offered for sale have poor photos, little information needed to make good decisions, and are being sold by unknown sellers.  Many are a box of shells away from an expensive failure and finding a qualified doublegun smith is no easy task.  Vintage Firearms eliminates the risk in your purchase by employing 5 gunsmiths to inspect, clean, repair if required, and service these vintage guns BEFORE WE SELL THEM.  VFI has superior photographs so you can see what you are buying, full specifications so you know the gun fits your needs, and provides solid warranties to insure your gun operates properly.  Having a multi-million-dollar inventory, a store front investment, and 11 employees who answer your phone call 6 days a week gives the confidence you need to buy your gun from VFI and not gamble with unknowns.  This Philly Fox A Grade, sn302622 made in 1926, has 50% original case color (turning dark), perfect screws, 100% rust blued barrels and trigger guard, and factory original wood that is 100% oil finished by VFI having superb wood-to-metal fit, excellent factory flat top checkering, and no cracks.  THE WOOD FIGURE ON THIS A GRADE IS OUTSTANDING, WITH LOTS OF FIDDLEBACK.  PRESENTLY IT IS DIFFICULT TO FIND 2 ½” 16GA. SHELLS.  BECAUSE OF THIS, VFI GUNSMITHS HAVE CAREFULLY MEASURED THE BARREL WALL THICKNESS AHEAD OF THE CHAMBER AND HAVE LENGTHENED THE CHAMBERS TO 2 ¾” AND EXTENDED THE FORCING CONES TO 1 ½” TAPERS SO THAT YOU CAN SHOOT MODERN 2 ¾” LOADS THROUGH THIS GUN.  This is a $440 service in our shop.  With RARE 30” number 4 weight barrels, excellent bores, tight ribs, barrels tight on hinge pin and breech face like a new gun, weighing just 6lbs. 2oz. and balanced 3/16” ahead of the hinge pin, this gun is the ultimate Fox gun for your upcoming bird season or a run at the traps.  The gun has excellent mechanics, and the top lever is right of center. THIS IS A VFI CERTIFIED GUN WITH A 90-DAY MECHANICAL WARRANTY, THE ACTION HAVING BEEN STRIPPED TO THE SMALLEST PART, ULTRASONIC CLEANED, SCRUBBED, EACH PART INSPECTED FOR FUNCTION AND INTEGRITY, LUBRICATED AND REASSEMBLED.  This is a $325 service in our shop.  Fox small bores in excellent condition are difficult to find in today’s marketplace as there were so few made and the present owners won’t sell them.  Because of this, prices have gone up significantly over the last few years and will continue to do so.  What an attractive gun in great condition with no issues.  We can make alterations to your specs within a short time after your purchase.  See the specifications in the tables below.  Thanks for looking!
