Payment Types Accepted: Description: Many a deer hunter has started their journey in the fields with their parents or grandparents and a wood-stocked .30-30 Winchester lever-action rifle in their hands. A timeless piece of Americana, there are plenty that would argue more deer have been felled to a .30-30 bullet than any other cartridge. This would not be hard to believe, with the cartridge dating back to 1895 as one of the first two cartridges designed specifically for smokeless powder and first utilized in the Winchester Model 1894. One of the most famous lever-action designs, the 1894 rifle has continued to be a staple in many collections, whether for putting food on the table, as an heirloom piece, or as a conversation starter. As with many lever-action rifles, the gun is quite slim, well-balanced, and comes from the factory equipped with more-than-adequate open sights. These qualities lend themselves well to a woods or brush gun. This rifle in particular is a 1980 XTR model. The XTR 1894s were made between 1978-1983 and indicated it had "extra finish features," including higher-class bluing, higher grade walnut furniture, and premium checkering. To this day, the finish on this gun still remains an enchanting polished deep blue. The checkering on the forend and straight-grip stock are in very good condition. The barrel appears to be in mostly good condition. There is no pitting and the rifling looks strong, but there is small amount of rust inside the barrel at the muzzle. The rifle does, however, have some other cosmetic damage: the plastic buttplate has white paint on it, the receiver has some light markings above the feed port, and the stock has a considerable amount of checking on the left side. The barrel has a bit of rust buildup on the crown and lines of markings along the magazine tube near the muzzle. The barrel also has some patchy buildup of some type behind the front sight. This rifle is in great shooter's-grade condition and, with a little extra cleaning and care, would be a great piece to bring to any range day or as a rifle to take into the woods. .30-30 Winchester Price: $1,549.99 Chambers: .30-30 Winchester Metal Condition: Fair Wood Condition: Fair Bore Condition: Good Barrels: 20 Stock Dimensions: 13 1/2" LOP Fore End: Checkered walnut Butt Pad: Plastic Weight: 6 lbs 5 oz Sights: Adjustable rear sight and grooved ramp front sight with silver bead and sight hood Item Location: Kearney, NE |
