The Springfield 1887 is a single shot, trapdoor action, breech-loading, hammer fired, rifle chambered in .45-70. This rifle was shortened from a full length rifle after original manufacture. It has adjustable elevation on the rear sight. This rifle is missing significant amounts of finish on its steel. The stock has minor defects.
