The Savage 99E: The \"Economy\" Model
The \"E\" in 99E stands for \"Economy,\" and it was a more basic, no-frills version of the classic Model 99. Introduced as a way to offer the popular rifle at a lower price point, the 99E typically had a more simplified design and fewer decorative features than other models.
Key characteristics of the Model 99E included:
Simplified Stock: The stock was often made of birch and lacked the checkering and fine finishing of the deluxe models. It was a utilitarian design, built for function over aesthetics.
Lack of Cartridge Counter: To cut down on manufacturing costs, many 99E models did not have the famous brass cartridge counter window on the side of the receiver.
