Here I present a well Loved and well cared for specimen of the 477 originally Manufactured by Springfield to fill the needs of Officers and Dignitaries who wished to acquire a sporting arm in the Government Caliber of the time, 45-70. This highly collectible specimen has served over 145 years and remains intact with all of its original features. Showing normal wear patterns from use, it shows checkering wear and spur marks. Strong rifling with frosting and spotting throughout the bore. The engraving is crisp and the Case Colored surfaces are a blue/ brown color. The remaining metal finish has faded to a plumb brown, grey color with no rust. The Walnut 1/2 stock is in good condition showing the wear of a well used and well cared for piece of Western History. All parts including the single set trigger are complete and functional as designed. Shoots nice and cleaned up very well with no apparent leading in the bore. If this one could talk, it would have plenty of stories to tell.
