This is a post-1810, safety-equipped pistol that has traces of the original browned finish remaining on protected areas of the barrel and a dull gray patina with dark spots and streaks on the balance. The "TOWER" and "(Crown) / GR" marked lock has a mottled gray patina throughout, with the tab of the sliding safety broken off at the rear. Despite that, the lock is otherwise fully functional and locks firmly at both half and full-cock. The walnut stock has numerous small handling marks and minor blemishes scattered about under a very thick reapplied military oil finish, and there are fairly crisp double Broad Arrow deaccession marks on the left side opposite the lock. The brass sideplate, nosecap, trigger guard, and lobed buttcap have a dull ochre patina with a unit marking engraved on the outside of the trigger guard bow: "CD / 33" (possibly a regional dragoon regiment, or a cavalry depot.) This is a very good-near fine example of a War of 1812 era British cavalry pistol, and would make a great addition to any collection. Antique; Price: $1,595.00 Antique: Yes |
