Description:
World War II U.S. NATIONAL POSTAL METER M1 Carbine C&R Light Rifle w/SLING

EARLY PRODUCTION WWII Carbine w/WEB SLING & OILER

Here we present a C&R National Postal Meter U.S. M1 Carbine Semi-Automatic Rifle, manufactured in early 1943 as a part of the first production block from National Postal Meter (serial number range from 1,450,000 to 1,549,999) produced from February to September 1943. This .30 caliber semi-automatic rifle was first used by the United States Armed Forces on October 22, 1941. Of the 6,110,730 carbines made of all types built during the war, National Postal Meter manufactured 413,017, or about 6.8% of the total between 1943 and 1944. National Postal Meter M1 carbines are one of the scarcer contractor carbines made. This example is equipped with a “SA 10-51” barrel. Despite having similar name and appearance, the M1 Carbine is not a carbine version of the M1 Garand rifle. They are different firearms and use different ammunition.

At the time of their first contracts, the National Postal Meter production plant had no tools, no employees, and no location! They eventually, and somehow, made over 400,000 carbines and a test fire range under the production line’s feet! Includes a green canvassling and oiler.

The overall condition is good. This example is arsenal refurbished. The stock shows average wear. The action is strong. Bright, shiny bore with sharp rifling. Legible markings. Numbers match on the receiver and stock. Good canvas sling with oiler and magazine included.
