Winchester Model 1886 Lever Action Rifle in .45-70 Antique Special Order with Extra Length Barrel
This Winchester 1886 rifle is an Antique (made in 1893!). It is chambered in 45-70 WCF, is in a special order rifle with a 28" full octagon and tang sight, it has a full tube magazine. It is equipped with updated full-buckhorn rear sight and a Lyman beaded front sight.
Condition:
This is a fairly early 1886 with a low serial number (#84367, made in 1893) chambered in the powerful 45-70 WCF. The metal surfaces have some moderate wear and slight pitting in a couple of places. There is some finish loss on the right side of the barrel below the front sight. The markings and legend on the metal are somewhat soft but remain legible. The walnut stocks have been refinished at some point in the past but are in very good condition and are proud of the metal in some places. They have some scattered dings and marks from handling and use. There is a slight crack at the wrist that goes nowhere. The bore rates very good slightly dark with some light pitting and very strong rifling throughout. The action is crisp and lock up is good it cycles a round well with strong ejection. If you are looking for a good, solid 1886 in 45-70 that has special features at a good price this might be a good choice.
