Description:
Serial #12722, .44 Special, 5 ½ inch barrel with a bright, excellent bore. This is a 5th year production Single Action Army revolver manufactured by the Great Western Arms Company, Los Angeles, California in 1957. There were very few produced in .44 Special with the Dougan & Hoobler book Great Western Arms Company citing only 5% of the total production run in that caliber. Produced to supply the great demand caused by the explosion of Western Movies and TV shows the Great Western Arms Co. began building copies of the famed Colt SAA Peacemaker revolvers. In excellent plus condition this example has seen very little use or handling with the barrel, cylinder and grip frame retaining vitually all, 98-99% of the original blue finish with only a slight hint of turn marks. The frame shows vivid case-hardened colors and the original signature faux stag grips rate excellent. Mechanically it functions properly with proper timing and lock up. It is well marked with "GREAT WESTERN ARMS CO" on barrel top with ".44 Special" on the side. A fantastic example in a scarce caliber & it doesnt get much better for the Great Western Arms collector.
