Description: This Antique Colt Artillery model started life as a 1890 US Cavalry model inspected by Rinaldo A Carr (RAC) by SN on frame. 1890 being the second to the last year of the US Army Cavalry contract with Colt. Five years later from 1895-1903 the US Army rounded up 17,000 of the in service 7 1/2 inch Cavalry models, sent them into Colt and Springfield Armory to have them reconditioned and rebuilt and to have them modified to have the shorter 5 1/2" barrel. Since the guns were reassembled without concern for serial numbers, this one of the few collectable gun variations that is considered "Correct" with mixed serial numbers-meaning that the various parts of the gun will usually not match each other. This gun appears to have no original finish remaining. It has the mixed serial numbers of the typical Artillery model. The frame number is 133743, showing Rinaldo A Carr inspector marking circa 1890 production. Trigger guard serial number is 92356 from 1883 production and grip frame SN: 95634, also 1883 production gun part. The cylinder wears serial number:6374 coming from a 1874 made Colt. The holster is original and correct, still supple with no damage and US marked. A wonderful shooting piece of US West military history as they saw service in the US Indian wars throughout the western United States and territories. Revolver functions as intended and still has the "Colt Bank Vault Lock-Up" Add 3% if paying by credit card. Free shipping for all US Veterans. God Bless America from a proud American, and a Viet Nam Vet , thankful for our freedoms.. paid for by the Blood ,Sweat and Tears of our brave men and women in uniform.
