Description:
NSN, .59 Caliber, 13 1/4" barrel with a fair, pitted bore. This is a handsome looking pistol that has relief scrollwork embellishments on the barrel breech and tang. The intricate decorations carry over onto the lockplate, cock, and frizzen, with the metal retaining a mixed dark gray and plum-brown patina with some minor pitting around the vent, and some thin surface oxidation within the scrollwork embellishments. The pin-fastened stock has some relief carving surrounding the barrel tang, with checkered panels on the forend and along the grip. The ornate brass trigger guard and bulbous buttcap have a mixed yellow and brown-ochre patina throughout, and the wood has numerous small handling marks and blemishes throughout, with some chips missing from around the buttcap sidestrap on the right side. The pistol has no provision for a ramrod. The lock is fully functional and locks firmly at both half and full-cock. This is a great looking pistol, in about good overall condition, and would make a splendid decorative accent for a gun room or study. Antique;
