There are no box, papers, or other accessories with this revolver. According to the Colt serial number lookup page on the internet, this revolver was manufactured in 1920. The barrel is stamped on the left side, just forward of the frame, with an iron cross symbol followed by “OFFICERS MODEL 38” followed by another iron cross symbol. The top of the barrel is stamped “COLT’S PT. F. A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A. (first line) and PAT’D AUG 5 1884, JUNE 5 1900, JULY 4 1905”. The rampant colt logo is stamped on the left side of the frame between the left grip panel and the cylinder release. “VP” in a triangle, the Colt Verified Proof mark, is stamped on the left side of the frame, just at the top of the left side of the trigger guard. “3”, which apparently identifies the Colt final inspector, is stamped at the top of the right side of the trigger guard. The serial number, 460572, is stamped on the inside of the crane and again on the frame, opposite the crane. Both are visible when the cylinder is swung out. The overall condition of this gun is about 99 percent, pretty good for a 105-year-old gun. It retains 100 percent of its original blue finish. The barrel is near perfect - 99+ percent, with just a very small touch of wear on each side of the muzzle, probably drawn from a holster very few times. The frame and ejector housing are in excellent condition - 99 percent. The cylinder is also in excellent condition with a very light cylinder lock-ring - 99 percent. The cylinder lockup is very tight. The after-market mother-of-pearl (or faux pearl) grip panels are like new - 100 percent. The gun has been lightly fired.
