#4215 This J. Woodward hammer side lever 12 Ga. was made around 1886
It comes with 30” Whitworth steel barrel  nitro proofed at .740”, 2 1/2 “ chambers and 3 tons. Chocked .003” and .014” loose SK1 and loose MOD.
Bright chambers and bores, good solder joints, Blacking 95 % of an older restoration.
A couple spots of minor pitting from pre-restoration. Wall thickness .026” and .027”.
Rebounding hammers, side lever with Purdeys flat bolt and third fastener, side clips. Tight, on face and with plenty of bolting with a new hinge pin from restoration time. 90% of tight scroll engraving coverage with the same amount case hardening colors.
The stock is solid with 1 1/2” and 2” of drop , 1/4” cast off, LOP 14 1/2” over a 1/4” ebony checkered plate, escutcheon with a Griffin head.
Long forend with push button release, wood and checkering are in 85% condition with the few marks one would expect on a piece of that age.

This gun is a great example of a Victorian era pigeon gun, at the apogee of the hammer shotgun design and craftsmanship.
