This Beretta S687 EELL Diamond Pigeon 20 gauge, produced in 1997, is a finely engraved small-bore over/under from Beretta’s premium sidelock-style line. Built on a sideplated boxlock action, it features a single selective trigger, auto safety, and timed ejectors. The 28" solid-rib barrels are chambered for 3" shells and fitted with Mobilchoke threading, supplied here with two modified chokes. At just 6 lbs 3 oz, the gun handles with speed and balance, measuring 1.375" drop at comb, 2" drop at heel, and 14.625" length of pull to a grooved walnut buttplate. The rib is vent-matted with a silver front bead.
The coin-finished action is extensively scroll engraved with detailed game scenes: the left plate shows two mallards over water, the right depicts two snipe in flight, and the underside bears a woodcock framed by scrollwork along with the maker’s name and model. Though the action shows some faint spotting, it retains about 90% of its original finish. The blued barrels are excellent, retaining approximately 98% of the factory blue.
The walnut stock and forend feature strong, dark straight grain with sharp checkering on the pistol grip and forend. Both pieces show handling marks typical of age and field use but remain solid and well-presented.
Mechanically, the bores are clear, the action is smooth and locks up tight, the trigger is crisp, and the ejectors are strong and in-time.
Overall, this is a very nice Beretta Diamond Pigeon—a sought-after model that combines elegant engraving, lightweight handling, and the practicality of 3" chambers in a 20 gauge platform.
