Here is a rare opportunity to own a beautiful .32-40 barrel by the legendary master, Harry M. Pope, and create a classic, superbly accurate single shot rifle. I have for sale a .32-40 barrel with an outstanding bore and chamber. It exhibits sharp lands and grooves and extraordinary smoothness and shine. When I acquired this barrel from an estate the bore and chamber were heavily coated with grease. It is possible this was never installed on an action. The threads appear to be for a Ballard action. I do not have the barrel’s false muzzle. It started life as a Remington barrel and is so marked, with very nice bluing. The barrel was then rifled by Pope. It is dated ‘1/16/1915’ and ‘446’ and in two places is stamped ‘H.M. Pope.’ I have no other information on the history of this barrel. Please note screw holes from previous sights and forestock. The overall length is 32” and it is 1 1/16” at the breech and tapers to 1” at the muzzle. I do not believe many Harry M. Pope barrels have been offered for sale, especially in this condition. $1,700, plus $40 shipping. Money order or bank check.
