This true pair of Arrieta Model 802 sidelocks, built in 2000, represents some of the finest work to come out of the Eibar gunmaking tradition before Arrieta ceased production. Both guns are built on Holland & Holland–style hand-detachable sidelocks with the classic self-opening mechanism, bushed firing pins, articulated front trigger, automatic safety, and timed ejectors. Chambered in 12 gauge with 2.75" chambers, they wear matching 30" barrels choked modified (.021") and improved modified (.029"). Each weighs 6 lbs 14.6 oz, with stock dimensions of 1.375" drop at comb, 2.25" drop at heel, and an unusually long 16.125" length of pull to checkered butts—ideal for a tall shooter, though adjustable if required. The sighting rib is a tapered concave rib with gold front bead.
The coin-finished actions are engraved in the full Holland & Holland Royal scroll pattern, with the maker’s name in a banner on each side and again on the bottom. Fit and finish are outstanding, with the sidelocks and actions retaining crisp detail and smooth mechanical operation. The self-opener mechanisms are strong, ejectors snap smartly in-time, and the triggers break cleanly.
Both sets of barrels retain 99% of their original high-luster blue, complementing the engraving and fine walnut. Stocks are exhibition-grade walnut with strong, dark streaked grain, straight-hand grips, and splinter forends. The checkering remains sharp, and handling marks are minimal, consistent with careful use. Gold initials are absent, making them ready for personalization if desired.
Overall condition is excellent, with clear bores, smooth actions, and strong mechanics. With Arrieta now out of business, properly matched pairs of their best sidelock models have become increasingly sought after. This pair of Model 802s, with all the hallmark features—hand-detachable locks, self-opening mechanism, exhibition wood, and refined engraving—offers exceptional value for anyone seeking a London-style game gun at a fraction of the cost of an English best.
