This Winchester Model 12, 20 ga., is in 98% condition. It features a 26 in bbl, a 2-3/4” chamber, the rare cylinder choke, a Simmons vent rib, and serial no. 297008 which was mfg in 1921.
This 104-year-old shotgun is still in 98% great condition, with only minor wear on the magazine tube from normal slide action use. Barrel is marked “NICKEL STEEL – WINCHESTER – MODEL 12 – 20 GA. – 2-3/4” – CYL.”
SERIAL NUMBER 297008 – Year of mfg is 1921. Serial number on the underside of the receiver (forward end) matches the serial number on bottom rear of magazine tube.
PRE-WWII MFG – Brings additional value.
NICKEL STEEL - Nickel steel barrel Model 12s (mfg. 1912-1931) have become very popular in recent years, and some collectors are actually specializing on nickel steel Model 12s only.
OPEN CHOKE BARREL - Features the rare cylinder choke barrel. As is the case with most other collectible shotguns, Model 12s with open choked barrels (CYLINDER) in shorter lengths (26 INCH) are A LOT more desirable than a specimen with a 30 in. full choke barrel (most common).
VENT RIB - Simmons vent rib.
BLUING - Retains almost all bluing in great condition. Slight bluing loss on magazine tube from normal slide action. No freckling.
WOOD – High grade wood. No cracks in wood.
CHECKERING - No wear on checkering.
