Description:
Handsome W & C Scott 12 bore boxlock ejector pigeon gun with fabulously figured Damascus barrels and a dished frame. Sharp and deep cut floral engraving with residual case coloring. The maker’s name appears in a flowing banner on both sides of the action body. Double triggers, auto ejectors, and automatic ejectors. Nicely figured European walnut on the swept back Prince of Wales grip and splinter forearm. Scott number 55954 was made in 1896 and is in good mechanical and cosmetic condition. Weighs 7lb 6oz.

The 30” Damascus barrels are very highly figured and chambered for 2-1/2” shotshells and are black powder proofed. The condition of the barrels is excellent with great wall thickness, no pitting and shiny bores and they can be safely shot with appropriate low-pressure ammunition. Rumors to the contrary notwithstanding, low-pressure 2-1/2” cartridges are readily available in the US from Armusa, Game Bore, and RST Shells. The barrels are topped by a wide tapered crosshatched pigeon style rib. The right barrel is bored 0.730 with a constriction of 0.020 for Modified choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.029. The left barrel is also bored 0.730 and has a constriction of 0.030 for Improved Modified choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.029.

The swept back Prince of Wales pistol grip stock and splinter forearm are made of nicely figured European walnut and have recently been professionally refinished. The checkering is crisp and the forearm has a Scott style latch. Stock dimensions are 14-3/16” to a thin buttplate by 1-1/2” by 2-1/8”. Slightly cast off for the righthand shot.
